Silver Certificates from a Leading PMG Registry Set Offered in May Auction

The Heritage sale includes more than 200 PMG-certified notes, many of them the highest-graded examples.

Over 200 US vintage banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) from the Backas PMG Registry Collection are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale. The collection consists of several rare silver certificates that were standouts in award-winning PMG Registry sets. Online bidding is currently underway, with the sale concluding on May 16, 2021.

One highlight is a 1934B $10 Silver Certificate graded PMG 30 Very Fine that is pedigreed to the Rickey Collection (lot 96256). It is a blue seal silver certificate with a coveted blue star next to the serial number. Ranking high in the PMG Registry’s Small Size Set category, this rarity has an estimate of $1,000 and up.

Another blue seal silver certificate in the sale is a 1928D $1 Silver Certificate (DB Block) graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96059). Included in the Small Size Silver Certificate Complete Set, this certificate ranked the third highest in the entire set. It has estimate of $800 and up in the May sale.

Other highlights from the Backas Collection include:

  • a 1928F $5 Legal Tender Note graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ with a pedigree of Narrow (lot 96021), with an estimate of $750 and up
  • a 1935A $1 Experimental Silver Certificate (A Block) graded PMG 15 Choice Fine NET (lot 96094), with an estimate of $750 and up
  • a 1935H $1 Silver Certificate (EJ Block) graded PMG 69 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96148), with an estimate of $600 and up
  • a 1928 $1 Legal Tender Note (AA Block) graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96001), with an estimate of $600 and up
  • a 1928E $1 Silver Certificate (JB Block) graded PMG 30 Very Fine EPQ (lot 96063), with an estimate of $600 and up
  • a 1935A $1 Experimental (R) Silver Certificate (SC Block) graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96093), with an estimate of $600 and up
  • a 1928C $1 Silver Certificate graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96057), with an estimate of $600 and up
  • a 1928B $1 Silver Certificate graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (lot 96055), with an estimate of $600 and up
