PMG Registry Featured Set: Cayman Islands

Posted on 5/23/2023

With the recent coronation of King Charles III, British Overseas Territories big and small gear up for new currency designs.

With the passing of Elizabeth II, inhabitants of UK territories around the world will be discussing a new look for their current monetary designs, if they have not done so already. In one such territory, the Cayman Islands, the Monetary Authority made a recent public announcement. Working alongside the Cayman Island government, the Monetary Authority announced an upcoming complete re-design featuring King Charles III. They presented an online survey to the public as they seek to engage residents and hope for feedback on new designs and themes. The new design program is expected to be completed by 2024.

With this news, we feature a comprehensive PMG Registry set, a Cayman Islands, 1971-Date, Complete Type Set, by Alan Collection Malaysia, found here. Alan began assembling this collection back in 2017 and has been carefully expanding this set to where he currently sits in first place among 15 other participants. The majority of notes in this set are graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ and higher.

Offering clear, crisp images for all 34 of his notes, both front and back, Alan has added unusual flair to his images; he has taken the time to photograph each note on a clear presentation stand, thereby allowing the viewer to truly appreciate the various color schemes, island themes and fine designs of Queen Elizabeth II. Nice touch, Alan!
