PMG Registry Featured Set: Large Size Nationals

This month, we feature another stellar winning set from the 2022 PMG Registry Awards: Block letters on Series 1902 Large Size Nat'ls $10s and $20s (pre Aug 22, 1925), by ddr70, which can be found here. With an impressive 91 notes and images for all, ddr goes above and beyond, providing a historical backdrop for Large Size Notes of this era. Winner of a Best Presented award, ddr70 reveals his passion for these notes through detailed and interesting descriptions.

He writes about the note shown below: “A very scarce Portland bank which issued First Charters, Brown Backs, and Red Seals only before closing in 1908. Barely a dozen notes of all types are known with this note only the third Red Seal of any denomination to be reported. A bold red overprint and delicate pen signatures…”

The set owner has obviously taken the time to do his research on each note, and the crisp images are lovely examples of each note in its time. He describes the note below: “This is one of just eight large-size and one of two Extremely Fine graded pieces with none finer. Includes signatures of F.W. Warner, Cashier and Jos. T. Fleming as Vice President. Fleming would replace John Reed as President in 1913 or 1914.”
