PMG Celebrates Indonesia's 75th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence Banknotes with a Special Label

Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) is offering a special label that celebrates the recently issued banknotes commemorating Indonesia's 75th Anniversary of its Proclamation of Independence. The 75,000 Rupiah notes, issued by Bank Indonesia, were released in mid-August 2020.

The notes show Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta, who were not only the first president and vice president of Indonesia but also authors of the Proclamation, which was announced August 17, 1945. The reverse shows children at the country's first flag-raising ceremony on the same day.

The Proclamation was made immediately after Japan surrendered at the end of World War II. However, it took four more years until Indonesian sovereignty was recognized by the Netherlands, which fought to re-establish control following Japan's wartime occupation of what was once known as the Dutch East Indies.

The special PMG label celebrates these banknotes by reflecting the 75th anniversary theme. The skyline features a mix of old and new landmarks, including the National Monument, an obelisk in Jakarta that commemorates Indonesia's struggle for independence.

• If you would like packaging returned, select “Return Packaging” on the PMG Submission Form. The fee is $5 USD per form, plus the cost of shipping.
