2019 American $1 Coin and Currency Set: Special Labels and Pedigree Available

Posted on 7/16/2019

Special NGC and PMG labels and pedigrees are available to recognize the coin and note in the 2019 Native American Coin and Currency Set. Special submission instructions must be followed. See the "Submission Instructions" section of this article.

The US Mint has announced the 2019 Native American $1 Coin & Currency Set goes on sale July 24. It combines an Enhanced Uncirculated 2019 Native American $1 coin with a Series 2017 $1 Federal Reserve Note. A maximum of 50,000 sets are being made available.

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) are celebrating this set with special label options, including Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) labels for both the coin and the note, and a Sacagawea label for the coin. NGC and PMG are also offering a special pedigree of Coin & Currency Set. There is no additional fee for the pedigree. (Scroll below to see detailed submission instructions.)

The US Mint and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing have issued sets previously for the Native American Dollar series, which has been issued since 2009 and changes its reverse annually to reflect a new theme. For 2019, the theme is Native American contributions to space exploration, and the reverse shows NASA engineer Mary Golda Ross, who helped make the Atlas-Agena rockets possible. The Agena rockets, which played a critical role in the Space Race and other missions, were first launched in 1959. The Federal Reserve Notes in the set has a serial number that begins with 1959.

Special NGC and PMG labels that benefit ASF are available to celebrate these notes. Each label is available by request for an additional $5 fee. A royalty will be paid to the ASF for each label used. Each year, ASF provides dozens of scholarships to outstanding college students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Coins received by NGC and PMG within the first 30 days of their release are eligible for NGC and PMG's Early Releases and First Releases designations. Learn more about NGC Early Releases and First Releases here. For NGC Early Releases / First Releases cutoff dates, click here.
