PMG Expert Review Opinions

PMG Expert Review helps eBay buyers make smarter purchases by providing a preliminary opinion of authenticity and, if requested, grade. Opinions start at just $5, and customers will receive a voucher equal to the amount paid that can be used to submit the note to PMG for regular grading services. (Vouchers are valid for 90 days.)

When a PMG Expert Review request is made, a PMG expert will review the eBay listing’s images and provide a preliminary opinion within 52 hours. Opinions will be sent by email. The possible opinions are shown below along with their cost and definition.

PMG Expert Review Opinions

A customer can purchase an Authenticity Opinion only or an Authenticity & Grade Opinion.

Authenticity Opinion only: $5 fee
Authenticity & Grade Opinion: $10 fee

PMG Expert Review Voucher Terms

  • You must be an Associate or higher PMG Collectors Society member to submit for regular grading services. Not a member? Join today >
  • Vouchers are valid for 90 days.

Authenticity Opinion   Definition
Likely Genuine   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note is likely genuine.
Likely Not Genuine   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note is likely not genuine or altered.
Inconclusive   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and is unable to provide an opinion of authenticity. The full fee is refunded.
Not Eligible   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and has determined that it is not eligible for PMG Expert Review (ie. already graded; not a note; too many items). The full fee is refunded.

Note: No grade opinion will be provided if the authenticity opinion is “Likely Not Genuine,” “Inconclusive,” or “Not Eligible.”

Grade Opinion   Definition
Likely Uncirculated (60-70)   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note would likely grade between 60 and 70.
Likely High Circulated (40-58)   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note would likely grade between 40 and 58.
Likely Low Circulated (1-35)   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note would likely grade between 1 and 35.
Likely No Grade   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and believes that the note would likely not be graded by PMG because of a problem (e.g. severely damaged).
Inconclusive   A PMG expert has reviewed the listing and is unable to provide an opinion of grade. The grade portion of the fee ($5) will be refunded.
