What makes it special? Up until recently, Disney fans were able to purchase “Disney Dollars” for use at Disney theme parks, resorts, and stores. Images of classic characters and iconic Disney locations make these pieces stunning to look at, and they quickly became popular with collectors. This particular banknote features Goofy waving on the front, while the back shows an image of Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World in Orlando, surrounded by fireworks. This design is available on both Disneyland notes (with block letters A-A) and Disney World notes (with block letters D-A).

Why is it interesting now? Disney Dollars are no longer being printed and distributed, making them excellent collector’s items. However, Disney locations are still accepting them as currency, and they come in handy if you need that Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich on a hot day at Magic Kingdom.

Did you know? Disney Dollars were created using cotton, which helps to create the feeling that they are real currency, and they even incorporate security features that are common in actual banknotes. For instance, the shiny planchettes that are used as a security feature on the notes are referred to as “Pixie Dust.”
