The Bank of Thailand has released a new series of notes that feature King Rama X.

On Friday, April 6, on the 236th anniversary of the founding of the Chakri family dynasty, the Bank of Thailand released new designs for an exciting and monumental new series of notes. These notes are the first to represent His Majesty, King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, also known as King Rama X. The images will replace those of the new king’s late father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX, who has had his image on Baht currency for 70 years.

These new notes consist of 20, 50, 100 Baht notes. On July 28 of this year, on the 66th birthday of King Rama X, new 500 and 1,000 Baht notes will also be released, as well. The existing currency will remain in circulation until they are worn and need to be replaced.
