The Bank of Thailand will introduce a new commemorative note series in remembrance of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In remembrance of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Bank of Thailand announced it will issue five new commemorative notes, beginning on September 20, 2017. The series will consist of 20-Baht, 50-Baht, 100-Baht, 500-Baht and 1,000-Baht notes. The color scheme, sizes, and portraits on these notes will be identical to the existing 16th series notes.

Each note depicts a different period in his majesty’s lifetime. The 20-Baht note shows the king as an infant and as a young boy.

The 50-Baht note features images of King Adulyadej as a young man performing his royal duties and ceremonies.

On the 100-Baht note, the King performs some of his royal duties.

Finally, the 1,000-baht note reflects the King in the later years of his reign.

The security features for these notes will also be similar to those on the 16th series. The reverse of the notes will have a special feature where the area around the portrait of the King will illluminate when held under uvltraviolet light.
