Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) has hired Jim Fitzgerald, the current President of the Professional Currency Dealers Association (PCDA), as a consultant. Jim’s focus will be on the authentication and grading of paper money.
A 30-year veteran of the paper money business, Fitzgerald brings a wealth of experience to PMG from both his work as a respected dealer and a resume that includes stints with Heritage Auctions and Spink Smythe. Jim is also a licensed auctioneer and has been seen this year on the dais calling sales for Lyn Knight, Stack’s Bowers and Heritage. “I’ve been fortunate to work for, and with, some amazing people that have a real passion for this business,” said Fitzgerald. “I’ve been lucky enough to turn a hobby into a career and I’m excited about taking this next step with PMG.”
Fitzgerald is a contributor to Paper Money of the United States by Arthur and Ira S. Friedberg, as well as the John Hickman Project of Texas National Bank Notes. He is widely regarded as one of the foremost experts on US Paper Money, Obsoletes, and Confederate notes.
“We are thrilled to have Jim join the PMG team. His extensive knowledge of US currency and overall understanding of the paper money business will assist PMG as we continue to grow,” says Steven R. Eichenbaum, CEO of PMG.
Fitzgerald is a Life Member of both the ANA and Texas Numismatic Associations.
