And Then There Were Three... China Note Grades 70

Only two notes out of the more than 470,000 that have been graded since PMG opened in 2005 have been awarded the distinction of being graded 70. This is the first world note ever graded 70 by PMG.

The graders at PMG were recently presented with a China / Peoples Republic 1962 1 Jiao that displayed rich coloration with even ink distribution and exceptional embossing. The note exhibited brilliant eye appeal and offered an outstanding example of the complexity of currency production thus earning it a grade of 70.

“Examining a note that so obviously surpasses the countless number of exceptional world notes we see everyday in terms of quality and so easily achieves the benchmarks set for the grade of 70 is incredible,” said Bruce Thornton. “We all felt privileged to have it here and to play a part in such a monumental event in PMG’s history.”

This exceptional find causes us to urge all currency collectors to go through your ungraded notes to remind yourself of what you have and send them in for grading. There’s no telling what notes have yet to be found.
