We take a look at Malaya 1941 currency.

This denomination set of specimens from Malaya includes notes of all denominations printed in 1941. Since many of these notes have varieties it is not a complete set but simply a denomination set of specimens featuring the image of King George VI. Lower denomination notes (1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents and 50 cents) were printed by Thomas De La Rue, and higher denominations ($1, $5 and $10) were printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd. The 1 cent, 5 cent and 10 cent notes do not have any printing on the back. Although these notes were printed in 1941 they were not issued until 1945 when the British regained control of the area from the Japanese who had occupied Malaya from 1942-1945.

PMG now references Malaysia, Brunei & Singapore Banknotes & Coins (1786-2010) edited by K.N. Boon and these numbers are prefaced on the holder with a KNB designation.
