Featured in this auction is a group of five PMG-certified Iraq, Government of Iraq 1931 (ND 1942) Specimen notes (lot 475). This set includes a 1/4 Dinar graded PMG 62 Uncirculated, a 1/2 Dinar graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated, and 1, 5 and 10 Dinar notes all graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated.

These historically significant notes showcase the portrait of King Faisal II as a child and represent an outstanding group for collectors of Iraqi currency. Four of the five notes are PMG “Top Pops,” each the finest example recorded in the PMG Population Report at its respective grade. Bidding had already surpassed $8,000 with several days remaining until the auction.

Also available in this sale are several Netherlands 1846 Reprints, including this 1846 500 Gulden Reprint graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 740). Produced in the 1930s by Joh. Enschedé, the original printer, on behalf of De Nederlandsche Bank, these official reprints reproduce the five denominations of the exceptionally rare 1846 Netherlands banknote series. Only two complete sets are believed to exist, according to the auction house, making this well-preserved set a remarkable piece of Dutch monetary history.

Original issued notes are extremely scarce, with the 100 and 500 Gulden denominations virtually unobtainable, making these reprints a rare opportunity to acquire a complete representation of this historically significant series.
