PMG-certified Color Trial Specimen in Spotlight in Stack's Bowers Galleries Sale

A top highlight in the auction sessions is a Hong Kong 1931-34 50 Dollars Color Trial Specimen graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session B, lot 31013), which has an estimate of $50,000 to $75,000. Issued notes are found with an overall rusty orange hue, but the color on this particular note is dominated by muted blue and gray shades. The short time period the issued notes were used, combined with their high value, resulted in few survivors being available for this catalog number today.
