Heritage Offers PMG-certified Palestine Rarity that Could Realize Six Figures

More than 800 world banknotes that are certified by PMG® are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale, with rarities from the Middle East and Zanzibar in the spotlight. Online bidding is already underway for the World Paper Money Signature Auction 4060, which concludes October 14-15, 2026.

The top lot in the auction is a Palestine, Currency Board 1929 £50 graded PMG 30 Very Fine (lot 24690), which has an estimate of at least $80,000. This particular note is the second-highest denomination issued by the British Mandate of Palestine. The £50 and £100 denominations were only issued in three dates (1927, 1929, and 1939), and all are eagerly sought by collectors today. Due to small print runs and few being unredeemed, existing examples are rarely seen. There are only eight issued examples of this catalog number (alongside a single Specimen) listed in the PMG Population Report.
