PMG-certified Latin American Rarities Offered by Stack’s Bowers Galleries

Two historic banknotes from Panama when it was part of neighboring Colombia are among hundreds of paper money rarities certified by PMG® that are being offered by Stack's Bowers Galleries in a series of sessions in late summer. Online bidding is already underway for the Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction - Session D - World Paper Money Part 1 - The Americas session, which concludes on September 5, 2026.

More than a week before the auction session, bidding had already reached five figures for a Colombia, Banco de Panama ND (ca. 1869) 20 Pesos Remainder graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 30211) as well as a Colombia, Banco de Panama ND (ca. 1869) 50 Pesos Remainder graded PMG 30 Very Fine (lot 30212). Only five Remainders and no issued notes of this particular 20 Pesos are listed in the PMG Population Report, with a single note graded higher. Meanwhile, only three Remainders and two issued examples of the 50 Pesos are listed in the PMG Population Report, with none graded higher. The issuing bank served Panama, a Central American nation that was part of Colombia for much of the 19th century.
