Rare Caribbean Banknotes Certified by PMG Stand Out in MDC Monaco Sale

Featured in this sale is a Guadeloupe, Banque de la Guadeloupe ND (1942) 1,000 Francs graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 2536), which has a starting price of €4,500 (about $5,300). This wartime-era series began during a pivotal period in the island’s history, reflecting the monetary system of the French Caribbean during World War II, when Guadeloupe remained under French administration. Guadeloupe has been closely connected to France since French settlers established a permanent presence on the Caribbean islands in the 1600s. Today, Guadeloupe is an overseas department and region of France, meaning it is politically part of the French Republic and uses the euro as its currency.

As of August 2026, there are 18 total graded examples of this note in the PMG Population Report, with only five examples graded higher.
