PMG Registry Featured Set: US $2

The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence is also the 50th anniversary of the $2 Federal Reserve Note. Like its predecessor, the $2 Legal Tender note, it features Thomas Jefferson on the front, but his Monticello home on the back was replaced with a portrait of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Of the 106 notes in the set, 24 (or almost a quarter) of them are from the inaugural 1976 series, including the San Francisco note shown above. These notes cover the standard and Star issues from the 12 Federal Reserve Banks with catalog numbers that have letter suffixes from 'A' (Boston) to 'L' (San Francisco).

The note with the most Registry points in gelras' set is the 2009 $2 Star note from New York (with catalog number 1939-B*), whose grade of PMG 68 Superb Gem Uncirculated makes it a Top Pop in the PMG Population Report. The set also boasts two notes that are graded PMG 70★ Gem Uncirculated EPQ, the top grade on the PMG Population Report, which automatically makes them "Top Pops."
