PMG-certified Netherlands Indies Rarity in Spotlight in Crown Currency Auction

More than 900 banknotes certified by PMG® and dozens of coins certified by NGC® are being offered in an auction that includes many vintage rarities from the Netherlands and its former colonies. Bidding is already underway in Crown Currency Live Auction 55, which concludes on June 9-10, 2026.

Drawing bidders' attention is a Netherlands Indies / Dutch Administration ND (1890) 50 Dollars - Partially Printed Remainder graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 801). This rare note bears the name of Medan, a city in northern Sumatra that served as the capital of the Sultanate of Deli, a major exporter of tobacco. Today, Medan is Indonesia's most-populous city outside of the island of Java.
