PMG- and NGC-certified World Rarities Showcased in Crown Currency Auction

Posted on 4/14/2026

Highlights of the April sale include a PMG-certified Suriname Replacement note and an NGC-certified Chinese Panda that are each Top Pops.

More than 1,400 banknotes certified by PMG® and dozens of coins certified by NGC® are being offered in an auction that includes many "Top Pops." Bidding is already underway in Crown Currency Live Auction 53, which concludes on April 21-22, 2026.

One of the top banknotes in the sale is a Suriname, Centrale Bank 2000 10,000 Gulden Replacement graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1309). Created to replace a misprinted or defective banknote, this note features imagery of an Ornate Hawk-Eagle and the Coat of Arms of Suriname on the obverse and the country's Central Bank Building on the reverse. While the PMG Population Report lists more than 250 issued examples of this note, it includes a mere five examples, with this one being the highest graded.

Among the NGC-certified highlights is a China 2026 Silver 10 Yuan Panda - Hong Kong Card Edition graded NGC MS 70 (lot 1711). First launched in 1982, the annual Chinese Panda coins have become a staple of numismatics and one of the most popular modern coins to collect across the globe. This low serial-numbered Panda city card received the First Day – Dec. HKINF designation, while also earning the highest grade possible of NGC MS 70, which makes it a Top Pop in the NGC Census.
