Heritage Offers High-denomination Lebanon Rarity and Other PMG-certified Rarities

The Specimen from the French Mandate period is being offered in the late March auction.

An exceptionally scarce Lebanese issue that is authenticated and graded by PMG® stands as a noteworthy offering in Heritage Auctions’ World Paper Money Signature Auction on March 26, 2026.

The Lebanon 1939 Banque de Syrie et du Liban 250 Livres graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine was created during the French Mandate period for both Lebanon and Syria, reflecting the complex colonial and monetary history of the region. The obverse depicts the baptistery of St. John’s Church in Byblos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. The reverse shows the Sea Castle in Sidon, a 13th-century Crusader fortress. Only eight issued examples of this note are listed in the PMG Population Report, with only one graded higher.
