Rare Coins Certified by NGC and Rare Notes Certified by PMG Offered by Monetarium

Posted on 12/15/2025

The December auction includes a Chinese coin with a famous name in numismatics and a seldom-seen Straits Settlements note.

An impressive selection of more than 400 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) from Southeast Asia and beyond is being offered alongside dozens of coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) in an ongoing auction. Online bidding is underway for Monetarium's Winter Auction 2025 and its Winter e-Auction 2025 which conclude on December 20 and 21, 2025.

The top lot in the entire auction is a China (1914) Silver Dollar - L. Giorgi graded NGC MS 61 (lot 1042), with an estimate of SGD120,000 to SGD150,000 (about $93,000 to $116,000). The name of master coin designer L. Giorgi near the rim at 4 o'clock on the obverse is what makes this coin special. Only 37 examples of this particular catalog number are found in the NGC Census, with demand for this vintage rarity far outstripping its supply.
