A. Karamitsos Offers Rare Greek Specimen Certified by PMG

More than 250 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in an upcoming A. Karamitsos sale that is focused on European rarities. Bidding is already underway for the Live Internet Auction 750 Part A and B, which is being held on December 13-14, 2025.
A top PMG-graded highlight in the auction is a Greece, National Bank 1923 1,000 Drachmai Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 6445), with a starting price of €7,500 (about $8,700). The front of this intricate Greek rarity features a portrait of revolutionary Georgios Stavros, who was a co-founder and also the first governor of the National Bank of Greece. The back of the banknote features a picturesque Greek scene showing the Acropolis of Athens, an enduring symbol of ancient Greece. Only 23 examples of this particular catalog number are found in the PMG Population Report, which has no examples of this high-denomination note in issued form.
