Trigometric Offers PMG-certified Malaysia Note with Highly Desirable Serial Number

Posted on 10/21/2025

Solid-8 Serial Number notes are sought after among numismatists in Asia, who associate the number 8 with good fortune.

More than 200 notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), including a Malaysia note with a enviable Solid-8 Serial Number, are being offered in an ongoing Trigometric auction. Bidding is already underway for Trigometric’s November 2025 auction, which is set to end on November 8, 2025.

The top single-item lot is a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1989) 100 Ringgit graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1178) has an estimate of RM30,000 to RM60,000 (about $7,100 to $14,200). Solid Serial Numbers on notes have the same digit repeated throughout, and Solid-8 Serial Numbers are eagerly sought by the paper money collecting community of Asia. The number 8 is considered lucky because the Mandarin Chinese word for eight ((八), (bā)), sounds like the word for wealth ((发), (fā)).
