Trigometric Offers Rare Specimens Certified by PMG

The September auction, which is focused on Southeast Asia, also includes coins certified by NGC.

Two rare Specimens from Southeast Asia are among more than 350 notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) that are being offered in an upcoming auction. Bidding is already underway for Trigometric's September 2025 Auction, which will be held September 20, 2025, and also features dozens of coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®).

The top PMG-certified lots in the sale include a Malaya 1942; ND (1945) 50 Dollars Color Trial Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ and pedigreed to the Frank Goon Collection (lot 1543), with an estimate of RM75,000 to RM120,000 (about $18,000 to $28,000); and a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1967-72) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated (lot 1259), with an estimate of RM70,000 to RM90,000 (about $17,000 to $21,000). The Malaya Color Trial Specimen is the highest-graded of the four examples in the PMG Population Report, while the Malaysia Specimen is one of only 10 in the PMG Population Report.

Other PMG-certified highlights in the sale include:

  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1972-76) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1286), with an estimate of RM58,000 to RM80,000 (about $14,000 to $19,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1983-84) 1,000 Ringgit graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1332), with an estimate of RM50,000 to RM80,000 (about $12,000 to $19,000)
  • a Straits Settlements / British Administration 1925-29 5 Dollars graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated (lot 1510), with an estimate of RM50,000 to RM80,000 (about $12,000 to $19,000)
  • a Straits Settlements ND (ca. 1860s) 50 Dollars Front Proof graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated and pedigreed to the Frank Goon Collection (lot 1525), with an estimate of RM46,000 to RM80,000 (about $11,000 to $19,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara 2017 600 Ringgit Commemorative graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1174), with an estimate of RM40,000 to RM60,000 (about $9,500 to $14,000)
  • a Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1995-98) 500 Ringgit graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 1378), with an estimate of RM40,000 to RM50,000 (about $9,500 to $12,000)

The NGC-certified highlights of the auction include:

  • a Malaysia (1999) Gold 500 Ringgit - Millennium graded NGC PF 69 (lot 1126), with an estimate of RM13,000 to RM16,000 (about $3,100 to $3,800)
  • a Great Britain 1930 Trade Dollar graded NGC MS 65 (lot 1048), with an estimate of RM7,500 to RM10,000 (about $1,800 to $2,400)
  • a Malaysia 2019 Gold 100 Ringgit graded NGC PF 69 Ultra Cameo (lot 1133), with an estimate of RM7,000 to RM9,000 (about $1,700 to $2,100)
  • a China 1976 Hong Kong Gold 1,000 Dollars - Dragon graded NGC MS 67 (lot 1135), with an estimate of RM7,000 to RM9,000 (about $1,700 to $2,100)
  • a Sarawak 1941H Cent graded NGC MS 62 BN (lot 1025), with an estimate of RM3,000 to RM4,300 (about $700 to $1,000)
