NGC-certified Vintage Polish Rarity Offered in Niemczyk Sale

More than 200 other rarities certified by NGC are also part of the mid-September auction.

A high-grade vintage rarity from 17th century Poland is among more than 200 coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) in an upcoming sale. Online bidding is already underway for Niemczyk Auction 50, which has an emphasis on Eastern European rarities and is being held on September 13, 2025.

The top NGC-certified highlight is a Poland 1612 Danzig Ducat graded NGC MS 64+ (lot 181), with a starting price of 70,000 PLN (about $19,000). The sole-highest graded of the dozen of this catalog number in the NGC Census, this coin shows Sigismund III Vasa on the obverse. As king of Poland from 1587 to 1632, he moved the capital from Krakow to Warsaw.

Other NGC-certified highlights in the sale include:

  • a Poland 1649 Krakow Taler graded NGC XF 45 (lot 235), with a starting price of 50,000 PLN (about $14,000)
  • a Russia 1720 2 Roubles graded NGC AU Details (lot 428), with a starting price of 25,000 PLN (about $6,900)
  • a Poland 1936 5 Zloty Silver Klippe graded NGC PF 61 (lot 601), with a starting price of 18,000 PLN (about $4,900)
  • a Poland 1651 GR Danzig Quarter Taler graded NGC AU 55 (lot 216), with a starting price of 15,000 PLN (about $4,100)
  • a Poland 1771 Silver Pattern Zloty graded NGC MS 63 (lot 292), with a starting price of 15,000 PLN (about $4,100)
  • a China CD1903 Fengtien Silver Dollar - Characters Reversed graded NGC MS 62 (lot 510), with a starting price of 15,000 PLN (about $4,100)
  • a Danzig 1932 5 Gulden - Harbor graded NGC MS 64 (lot 611), with a starting price of 15,000 PLN (about $4,100)

The auction also includes several rare notes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®), the NGC affiliate that grades paper money, including:

  • a US $1,000 Federal Reserve Note (Chicago) graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (lot 787), with a starting price of 25,000 PLN (about $6,900)
  • a Poland, Treasury Note 1794 10 Zlotych graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (lot 718), with a starting price of 3,000 PLN (about $800)
  • a Poland - Lodz Ghetto 1940 10 Mark graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated (lot 760), with a starting price of 2,500 PLN (about $700)
  • a Poland, Duchy of Warsaw 1810 1 Taler graded PMG 30 Very Fine (lot 731), with a starting price of 2,000 PLN (about $550)
