Heritage Offers Rare PMG-Certified 'Running Horses' Note
Posted on 10/22/2024
An example of China's renowned Running Horses note is among the rarities certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) in an exciting auction of banknotes that are available to collectors in Heritage Auctions’ HKINF World Paper Money Signature Auction - Hong Kong. Online bidding for this auction opens in mid-November and will conclude on December 5, 2024.
Among the highlights is a China / People’s Republic 1951 10,000 Yuan graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 24082), with an estimate of at least $110,000. Featuring a herdsman with his horses, this high-denomination note was issued for the sparsely populated Inner Mongolia. Its low survival rate makes it among the most coveted notes in all of China. Only 37 examples of this note are listed in the PMG Population Report, and they generally sell for six-figure amounts at auction.
