Posted on 8/14/2024

Several notes worth six figures were among the treasure trove of numismatic delights that PMG had the honor of certifying.

The ANA World’s Fair of Money has just wrapped up, and it was nothing short of spectacular! PMG had the privilege of reviewing a stunning array of submissions, both for on-site grading and drop-off submissions that are being graded at PMG’s headquarters in Sarasota, Florida. Among the treasures were some truly extraordinary notes that are sure to excite collectors.

We were thrilled to see rare early issues from Egypt and Lebanon, including the majestic Carpet Note (Pick# 53). Saudi Arabian, Syria and Rhodesia notes also stood out, alongside exceptional submissions from several other countries, such as Mauritius, Ireland, Norway and Seychelles, showcasing the vibrant range of world paper money.

And the US notes did not disappoint either, especially with submissions from the renowned Nicholas Bruyer Collection. Highlights included a breathtaking $1,000 note from 1882 (Fr# 1218d); a Large Seal $100 type from 1869 (Fr# 168, better known as a Rainbow Note); an 1891 $50 (Fr# 376) with a Serial Number 2; and an exceedingly rare $50 Type 2 from 1863 (Fr# 150).

Overall, the ANA continues to set the standard for numismatic events, and 2024 was no exception. The show floor buzzed with energy, and the event was thoughtfully organized, with a vibrant Kids Zone, fascinating exhibitions and a great array of numismatic items spanning from ancient times to modern-day marvels. With hundreds of dealers displaying their articles, the sheer volume was overwhelming, yet those with a sharp eye were rewarded with rare finds to complete their collections.

As we close this chapter of the ANA World’s Fair of Money with these images of some of the graded highlights, we’re already gearing up for the FUN Show in January. We invite you to bring your prized notes for professional authentication and grading. Our experts are eager to ensure your collectibles receive the meticulous attention they deserve.
