The auction held in China featured two great rarities from the First Series of Renminbi.

Two early banknotes of China's Renminbi led a group of hundreds of rarities certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) that were offered by Hosane, an auction house in mainland China. The Hosane 2024 Spring Auctions - Chinese Banknotes session was held May 19, 2024.

The top lot in the session was a China / People's Republic 1951 10,000 Yuan graded PMG 25 Very Fine (lot 2454), which realized 1,115,500 RMB (about $154,000). This is an example of the "Running Horses" type of this high-denomination note and was used in the inner Mongolia region. It is the rarest note in the First Series of Renminbi, with only 36 issued examples listed in the PMG Population Report.
