Rare German-Asian Banknote Certified by PMG Offered in Heritage Auctions Sale

Posted on 5/20/2024

A formidable selection of Chinese notes certified by PMG is offered in the mid-June auction.

More than 700 world banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in an upcoming Heritage Auctions sale that is focused on paper money from China. Online bidding begins in late May for the HKINF World Paper Money Signature Auction - Hong Kong #4051, which is scheduled for June 18, 2024.

A top highlight of the auction is a China, Deutsch-Asiatische Bank 1914 100 Dollars graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 24164), which has an estimate of at least $25,000. This rare note was among those issued in China by the German-Asia Bank in the early 20th century, as Germany vied to establish colonial power in China. Out of just 13 examples of this particular catalog number in the PMG Population Report, only four are graded higher.
