PMG Registry Featured Set: Suriname

The Central Bank of Suriname recently released two new high-denomination notes. These 2024 $200 and $500 issues are now available in the complete competitive PMG Registry set here, and this month, we feature a whimsical and popular Suriname set. Known for its diverse terrain, from lush rainforests and swamps to mountain ranges and savannas, Suriname has a host of wildlife, including many different species of birds. The Central Bank of Suriname featured a few of these birds on its 2000 series of notes. This interesting avian currency includes birds such as the Long-Tailed Hermit, the Guianan Cock-of-the-Rock and the Spectacled Owl, to name a few.

Collector Copperbox has images displayed for all of the notes in this PMG Registry set. His colorful and unique slideshow here is a must-see. These artfully presented notes feature not only interesting birds but also flora, fauna, butterflies and other wildlife native to Suriname. Each note has been carefully designed and is a true pleasure to behold. Copperbox began assembling this set in 2022 and currently sits in the coveted No. 1 spot with 100% completion. This Suriname Bird Set is the second-most-popular set type for the PMG Suriname category, and the second-place collector in this set type, Muzzer42, is not far behind Copperbox. The PMG Registry annual award race is on! It will be interesting to see what happens with this set and many others!
