Crown Currency Offers Hundreds of Rare PMG-certified Notes in March Auction

Posted on 3/19/2024

An Irish Euro and other European rarities lead the way in the late March sale.

More than 800 notes from around the world that are certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are being offered in a Crown Currency sale. Online bidding for the auction, which contains numerous European rarities, is already underway for Crown Currency's Live Auction #27, which will be held March 29, 2024.

One of the top PMG-certified lots in the sale is a European Union / Ireland 2002 500 Euro graded PMG 67 Superb Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 183). This particular note was created for Ireland and is the rarest of all high-denomination Euro banknotes, with only 150,000 examples reportedly printed in 2002. The rare issue is easily identified by its "T" prefix in front of the note's serial number, making this a key note for serious collectors of the 500 Euro varieties. Among 50 examples of this particular note listed in the PMG Population Report, there are eight in this grade, with only two graded higher.
