PMG Registry Featured Set: Thailand

This month, we feature a well-presented PMG Registry collection: a Thailand, Commemorative Issue, 1969-Date set, which can be found here.

This set type is the most popular of all Thailand sets, with 25 participating sets to date. The set by Evaldas, currently ranked second, is notable for the number of high-grade notes and images, and for extensive comments about each note from the Bank of Thailand.

The set is a picturesque presentation of symbolic events in Thailand in recent years. It includes special issues such as the 1987 Commemorative 60 Baht note in honor of Rama IX’s 60th birthday, 2000 commemorative issues in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of the royal couple, a 2004 100 Baht note in honor of Queen Sirikit’s 72nd birthday. The list goes on and on.

Evaldas has taken care in building his collection since 2019, and he has sprinkled his set with high-grade notes, like this PMG Top Pop replacement note, above. He also has a nice example of Pick# 127a, below, which commemorates Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 5th Cycle Birthday Anniversary in 2015. The PMG Registry score of Evaldas’ set is close to another admirable set by Malleabledan. The two are only separated by a few thousand points, and the 2024 race for first place will certainly be interesting between these two collectors!
