PMG-certified Chinese Note a Top Highlight in CGB.fr Auction

Other early renminbi examples are being offered in the auction on October 10, 2023.

Early examples of the renminbi, the Chinese currency introduced in the late 1940s, are among the exciting banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) being offered in a CGB Numismatics Paris (CGB.fr) auction. Bidding is already underway for the sale, which is scheduled for October 10, 2023.

A top highlight in the auction is a China / People’s Republic 1949 20 Yuan graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (lot 4660088) with an estimate of €18,000 (about $19,000). The 1949 20 Yuan note is historically significant, issued just after the founding of the People's Republic of China. The PMG Population Report shows 512 examples of this catalog number, with only nine numerically graded higher than this one.
