Heritage Offers Rare PMG-certified Notes from the Ibrahim Salem Collection

Posted on 4/14/2023

Top highlights include Specimen and Serial Number 1 notes from former British colonies.

Dozens of rare Specimens and notes with Serial Number 1 are among over 300 banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) being offered by Heritage Auctions. Bidding is already underway for these amazing notes pedigreed to the impressive Ibrahim Salem Collection, with the auction scheduled for May 9, 2023.

Among the Serial Number 1 notes is a Bermuda / British Administration 1941 5 Pounds graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated (lot 28035). The rarity of the note is due in part to complaints that its color was too similar to the 5 Shillings note, prompting a relatively quick change from brown to orange. This note has an estimate of at least $25,000.
