Trigometric Offers Asian Rarities Certified by PMG and NGC

Hundreds of rare banknotes certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) and coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company® (NGC®) are being offered in the Trigometric March 2023 Auction, running from February 24 to March 30, 2023. The auction series is divided into three parts: Session 1, Session 2 and Session 3.
PMG highlights
One of the most impressive lots in this sale is a very rare five-piece Malaya 1940-41 Specimen set (Session 1, lot 3509) with an estimate of 300,000 to 500,000 RM (about $67,000 to $111,000). This set includes a 1941 1 Cent graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, a 1941 5 Cents graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine EPQ, a 1941 10 Cents graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ, a 1941 20 Cents graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ and a 1940 25 Cents graded PMG 45 Choice Extremely Fine NET. The notes all show King George VI of the United Kingdom, which lost control over Malaya by early 1942 amid broad Japanese gains in that stage of World War II.

- a lot of two Malaysia, Bank Negara ND (1983-84) 1,000 Ringgits with consecutive serial numbers graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ and PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session 1, lot 1282) with an estimate of 85,000 to 100,000 RM (about $19,000 to $22,000)

- a lot of two Thailand ND (1943) 1 Dollar Proofs graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated (Session 3, lot 3585) with an estimate of 34,000 to 90,000 RM (about $8,000 to $20,000)
- a Thailand ND (1943) 1 Dollar Specimen graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ (Session 3, lot 3586) with an estimate of 34,000 to 70,000 RM (about $8,000 to $16,000)
NGC highlights
Among the NGC-certified coins in this auction is a Malaysia 1971 Gold 100 Ringgit - Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj graded NGC PF 68 Ultra Cameo (Session 2, lot 2388) with an estimate of 40,000 to 70,000 RM (about $9,000 to $16,000). This coin has a mintage of only 500, and the NGC Census contains only 19 examples, with this coin surpassed in grade by only one other.
