The Monetarium January 2023 Prosperity Golden Number Auction is scheduled to close on January 15, 2023.

Hundreds of Southeast Asian notes with fancy serial numbers certified by Paper Money Guaranty® (PMG®) are available in the Monetarium January 2023 Prosperity Golden Number Auction, which is scheduled to close on January 15, 2023.

Among the single-note lots, one of the most valuable is a Malaya & British Borneo / British Administration 1953 10 Dollars with a Solid-9 Serial Number graded PMG 35 Very Fine (lot 115019), which has an estimate of SGD 12,000 and SGD 15,000 (about $9,000 to $11,000). Solid serial numbers are popular among collectors of Asian banknotes and they are especially desirable on vintage banknotes like this one. The note is among the first to show Queen Elizabeth, who succeeded her father in 1952.

Also offered is a Malaya & British Borneo / British Administration 1959 1 Dollar with a Solid-9 Serial Number graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated (lot 115026), which has an estimate of SGD 12,000 and SGD 15,000 (about $9,000 to $11,000). This banknote was issued after Malaya's formal independence in 1957; however, the words Malaya & British Borneo were still printed on them. The auction features well over 100 other Solid Serial Numbers.

Another interesting note is this Malaysia, Bank Negara 1976-81 50 Ringgit with a Solid-4 Serial Number graded PMG 66 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (lot 115033), which has an estimate between SGD 5,500 and SGD 6,500 (about $4,000 to $5,000).
