Several PMG-certified Hong Kong Rarities Being Offered by Stack's Bowers

Hundreds of rarities in the October auction include several valuable PMG-graded notes that are over 100 years old.

Over 800 PMG-certified Chinese banknotes are being offered in an upcoming Stack’s Bowers sale. Online bidding is underway for the October 2022 Hong Kong Auction Session A and Session B, which is set to end on October 3, 2022.

One of the top notes in the sale is a Hong Kong, Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China ND (1912) 50 Dollars (Session B, lot 41004). With a grade of PMG 55 About Uncirculated NET, it is one of just three examples graded by PMG. This rare note has an estimate of $40,000 to $50,000.

Other PMG-certified highlights in the auction include:

  • a China, Bank of Hindustan, China & Japan Limited ND (1860s) 50 Taels graded PMG 20 Very Fine (Session A, lot 40469), with an estimate of $25,000 to $50,000
  • a Hong Kong 1921-23 50 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 65 Gem Uncirculated EPQ (Session B, lot 41030), with an estimate of $25,000 to $50,000
  • a China, Bank of China 1941 100 Yuan with Solid #9’s graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (Session A, lot 40092), with an estimate of $35,000 to $45,000
  • a China, Imperial Bank of China 1898 50 Dollars graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine NET (Session A, lot 40035), with an estimate of $25,000 to $35,000
  • a China, Ta-Ching Government Bank 1909 100 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 63 Choice Uncirculated (Session A, lot 40042), with an estimate of $20,000 to $30,000
  • a Hong Kong, Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation 1873-74 1 Dollar graded PMG 35 Choice Very Fine (Session B, lot 41025), with an estimate of $17,500 to $22,500
  • a China, Ta-Ching Government Bank 1909 50 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 58 Choice About Uncirculated (Session A, lot 40041), with an estimate of $15,000 to $25,000
  • a China, Ta-Ching Government Bank 1909 5 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (Session A, lot 40040), with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
  • a China, Ta-Ching Government Bank 1909 10 Dollars Specimen graded PMG 64 Choice Uncirculated EPQ (Session A, lot 40043), with an estimate of $10,000 to $20,000
