National Coin and Currency Convention Issues Hotel Alert
Posted on 9/18/2012
Hotel rooms for the November 8-11 National Coin and Currency Convention are in short supply, according to Patricia Foley, General Chairman for the event. To be held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, located at 5440 North River Road in Rosemont, Illinois, roughly one mile from Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, the event will feature a bourse including United States, world and ancient coins, as well as United States and world paper money.
Foley said, “Bookings and booth sales are ahead of the pace experienced for our show last year and rooms over several of our nights are in especially short supply. The Crowne Plaza is an especially busy meeting and convention venue. Because of the presence of other events there over our dates, our attendees would be well advised to make their reservations now, while accommodations are still available.”
She continued, “Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at (877) 337-5793 and asking for the “National Coin and Currency Convention” rate of $115. The Crowne Plaza completed an extensive remodeling project within the last two years and is an exceptional facility. Our rate is definitely a superior value.”
Lyn Knight will hold a three session auction on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Lot viewing will begin at 10am on Wednesday, November 7 and the security room for early arriving dealers to store their valuables will open at the same time. The Knight auction will include world and United States paper money. The bourse area will get underway from 10am-1pm on Thursday, with a closed move in for booth holders only, followed by a Professional Preview from 1pm-6pm, during which collectors and dealers without booths can have early access to the bourse for a $75 registration fee.
Public hours for the bourse area will be from 10am-6pm Friday and Saturday and 10am-2pm Sunday. There is a $5 registration fee, valid for all three days of the show.
Kevin Foley, a Past President of the Central States Numismatic Society and holder of the Krause Publications Numismatic Ambassador Award, is Bourse Chairman. Dealers interested in bourse space at the event should contact him at firstname.lastname@example.org for an application. He can also be reached by phone at (414) 807-0116.
