Stack's Bowers and Ponterio to Offer Over 450 Lots of World Paper Money in Hong Kong,China

[Irvine, Calif.] – Stack’s Bowers and Ponterio is set to conduct the August 2012 Hong Kong, China sale from August 19 through August 22 at the Mira Hong Kong,China in Kowloon. Following the successful sale in April that realized over USD$10.5 million, this sale is poised to rise to equally impressive heights. More than 2,300 lots of Chinese and Asian coins and banknotes will be presented over four days, in addition to an internet-only session containing nearly 600 lots that will close on August 23.

World Paper Money will be offered in Session 4, which will take place on Wednesday, August 22 beginning at 12:30 PM HKT. The session opens with lot 53001, the finest certified Ming Dynasty 1 Kuan P-AA10 graded PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net, a wonderfully high quality example from a series that has received growing attention in the last few years. Among Provincial bank issues is a Hupeh Government Mint Seven Mace Two Candareens in PMG Very Fine 30. This beautiful, large format note is striking both for its size and coloring, and is sure to be a highlight of the paper money session.
