Marudhar Offers Indian Rarities Certified by NGC and PMG

Great rarities from India's centuries of numismatic heritage are offered in a pair of sales that include the auction house's Golden Jubilee Auction.

Rare coins certified by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and paper money certified by Paper Money Guaranty are among the offerings in a pair of auctions presented by Marudhar Arts focused on India's rich numismatic heritage. Bidding is already underway for Marudhar Arts' Auction 50: the Golden Jubilee Auction and Auction 51, being held July 12, 2025.

Among the top NGC certified items are two coins from the 1870s. An India 1870(C) 10 Rupees - Mature Bust graded NGC MS 62 (Auction 50, lot 140), has an estimate of ₹800,000 to ₹1,000,000 (about $9,400 to $11,700), while an India 1875(C) Mohur graded NGC UNC Details (Auction 51, lot 173), has an estimate of ₹400,000 to ₹500,000 (about $4,700 to $5,900).

Meanwhile, two of the top paper money lots in the auction are certified by PMG. An India, Reserve Bank ND (1959-70) 100 Rupees - Persian Gulf Note graded PMG 50 About Uncirculated (Auction 51, lot 207) has an estimate of ₹600,000 to ₹800,000 (about $7,000 to $9,400), while an India, Reserve Bank ND (1972) 20 Rupees Specimen graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated EPQ (Auction 51, lot 212), has an estimate of ₹500,000 to ₹550,000 (about $5,900 to $6,400).

Other NGC-certified highlights include:

  • an India AH988(1580) Mughal Mohur graded NGC UNC Details (Auction 50, lot 42), with an estimate of ₹700,000 to ₹1,000,000 (about $8,200 to $11,700)
  • an India AH987(1579) Mughal Mohur graded NGC MS 61 (Auction 50, lot 41), with an estimate of ₹700,000 to ₹1,000,000 (about $8,200 to $11,700)
  • an India AH122X//27 Maratha Rupee graded NGC XF 45 (Auction 50, lot 87), with an estimate of ₹550,000 to ₹650,000 (about $6,400 to $7,600)
  • an India AH1049(1639) Mughal Mohur graded NGC MS 66 (Auction 50, lot 62), with an estimate of ₹500,000 to ₹700,000 (about $5,900 to $8,200)
  • an India AH1237//16 Hyderabad Mohur graded NGC UNC Details (Auction 51, lot 109), with an estimate of ₹400,000 to ₹500,000 (about $4,700 to $5,900)
  • an India 1862(C) Mohur graded NGC AU Details (Auction 51, lot 172) with an estimate of ₹250,000 to ₹300,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500)

Other PMG-certified highlights include:

  • an India / British Administration 1916-19 100 Rupees graded PMG 30 Very Fine (Action 50, lot 146), with an estimate of ₹600,000 to ₹800,000 (about $7,000 to $9,400)
  • an India / British Administration ND (1917) 2 Rupees, 8 Annas graded PMG 25 Very Fine (Auction 50, lot 147), with an estimate of ₹500,000 to ₹700,000 (about $5,900 to $8,200)
  • four examples of India, Government "Watermarked Paper" ND (1860) 10 Rupees certified by PMG (Auction 51, lots 218 to 221), each individual lot with an estimate of ₹500,000 to ₹700,000 (about $5,900 to $8,200)
  • an India, Reserve Bank ND (2002) 20 Rupees Specimen graded PMG 55 About Uncirculated (Auction 51, lot 213), with an estimate of ₹250,000 to ₹300,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500)
  • a Burma / British Administration ND (1939) 100 Rupees graded PMG 40 Extremely Fine (Auction 50, lot 150), with an estimate of ₹250,000 to ₹300,000 (about $2,900 to $3,500)
