Silver Certificate Info. Needed

Hi,

I am trying to help out a friend and I am doing some research on several notes that they own. The notes are in near mint condition, crisp, and not folded or creased. Below are the serial numbers. Any thoughts on if these should be certified and value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Silver Certificates

$5 A00000004A 1953

$5 A00000003A 1953

Legal Tender Notes

$5 A00000004A 1953

$5 A00000003A 1953

The silver certificates are worth in excess of $1000 each. The legal tenders are worth perhaps $3000 each. Unless they are ultra superb, certification will not increase their value.

Is that based on there serial numbers?

in my opinion, every note valued over $500 or having a low seial number (3 places or less) should definitley be certified to ensure the saftey of the note. fo rthe msot part grading notes wont increase its value unless the quality is superb, 60+. hope this helps!

Hi, TomG

What did you decide to do, certified or raw, with these silver certificates?

$5 A00000004A 1953

$5 A00000003A 1953

Legal Tender Notes

$5 A00000004A 1953

$5 A00000003A 1953

Just wondering?

Hi, Rhomell

Wow! A number 1 note and a 66 at that! thumbsup2.gif

If you are looking to sell it the best place would be at one of the major auction houses. The worth is thousands of dollars. Great silver certificate note! grin.gif
