Try the new PMG Journals!   03/22/2017

PMG has launched a new and improved PMG Journals! Available on PMGnotes.com, the new PMG Journals improves upon the popular platform to write blogs and discuss them with other members. The new PMG Journals has an improved design that makes it significantly easier to post and read journals from any device, including smartphones and tablets. Adding images has been made much simpler, and the PMG Journals now give users the ability to create polls and "like" other entries. A popular feature of the old PMG Journals was the ability to open an entry to comments from other users. This feature has been retained and enhanced — users can now comment on the same page as the original Journal entry, creating a seamless experience. Best of all, the same login can be used to post Journals, make comments and access the other features of the PMG website. Old PMG Journals entries will be migrated to the new PMG Journals soon. In the meantime, users can make posts to the new PMG Journals. To get started, create a Journal and make an entry. Unlike the old NGC Journals, you create a single Journal and then add new entries to it. Your Journal can be customized with a cover photo, and you can choose to make it available to all users or only to the users that you select. You can also choose to receive notifications whenever people comment on one of your entries. Scroll below for helpful tips on using the new PMG Journals or go to the new PMG Journals now >   Instructions / Tips To get started, you must first create your Journal and then you can add entries to that Journal. Choose Journals from the Browse menu if you are not already on the Journals page

        Click Create a Journal

Name your journal, add a description, add a photo, and choose if you want all users to see your journal or if you would like it available to a specific audience only. Click Continue to move on to the next step where you can add you first entry!

Click Add Journal Entry to add a post to your journal

Commenting on another user's Journal is easy. After selecting a journal to read, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find the field where you may enter your comments and see the comments others have posted.

What Catalog Number to use for "Specimen" notes?

I'm submitting several "Specimen" notes and have no idea what the catalog number is or should be as these notes are not listed in my Friedberg book and when I look up other PMG graded "Specimen" notes like mine, they do not have a "catalog" number yet if I don't put one, I'll get charged extra. Please help.

The notes I have are:

1.) 1929 10 Denomination American Bank Note Company "Specimen" with the security strip (also, I've never seen one of these graded with the security strip so do have that put on the label do I need to pay extra and would it be a "Variety" or a "Pedigree"? or will you just add it and how would I know?

2.) Confederate States of America Bond Coupon $30 - Bond for $1000, Due 1871-74, 6% Funded Loan "Uncut Group of 4" (again, to get all of this on the label as I've seen, do I mark "Variety or Pedigree"?)

3.) Three Depression Scrip "Specimen" notes.

Where can I find these catalog numbers and why wouldn't they be on existing PMG notes that are the same or similar?

Thank you!

Good morning,

Thank you for your question. Some notes, such as scrip notes, may not have catalog numbers. In a case of scrip notes, we do not charge if you do not list those. For regular notes or confederate notes, you can put the regular Friedberg number. If you are not certain, put the number you think it is and we will double check it when it comes in. As long as you make an attempt to list the catalog number, you will not be charged. You can find these FR numbers in the book, "Paper Money of the United States" by Arthur and Ira Friedberg.

If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thank you.
