  1. Good morning, Thanks for your message. What you are seeing is called the rainbow or prism effect, also known as Newton rings. There is no liquid present, or anything that can damage your note. This visual phenomenon occurs when light passes through plastics with different refractive indexes (how they bend light). It’s what you sometimes see on a smartphone screen protector, or on the edges of an LCD television screen. In our cases, it’s caused by the refractive qualities of the two layers of the holders being layer together and sealed. You are welcome to send the note back for a r
  2. Hello, the "Run 1" listed on this note refers to the serial number range. Serial number range B00000001J-B54000000J for this Fr# is considered Run 1. There are a total of 3 runs for this FR#. Thanks!
  3. Good morning, Thanks for your message. In order to submit notes, you would need to be a paid member of our Collector's Society. If you have not already signed up for membership you can do so here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/join/ The best way to package your notes is to put them in non-pvc mylar currency sleeves and then to put those in between two pieces of cardboard and then to wrap that in bubble wrap or some other packing material. You can find more tips on how to package your notes on our website here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/resources/pdf/pmg-packaging-notes.pdf If you h
  4. Hello, please provide the certification number so we can take a closer look. Thanks!
  5. Good morning, Thanks for your message. I checked this note and it was graded back before we were putting EPQ on the front of the label. At that time, we were only putting it on the back. You can send the note in for a reholder and it would receive the regular EPQ listing on the front of the label, as we list them now. Reholders are $12 per note. Thank you!
  6. Good morning, Thanks for your message. Can you please provide the certification number for this note so we can check further? Thanks!
  7. Good morning, Thanks for your message. Yes, for most U.S. notes the catalog number used is the Friedberg number. You can find a listing of all reference books used here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/news/article/5622/PMG-Attributions-and-Reference-Books/ Thanks!
  8. Good morning, Thanks for your message. I checked with our research manager and sent him over your pictures. He said it would be difficult to say for sure, without seeing the note in hand. He thought there was a good possibility we could encapsulate it but that would ultimately be up to our graders. Sometimes if the note is in multiple pieces they choose not to so we would really need to see the note in hand before we could say definitively. If you need information on how to submit to us for grading, you can find more on our website here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/services/Submit
  9. Good morning, thanks for your message. Right now our Economy tier is running about 30 business days. Invoice 8076251 should be finishing up around the end of September and invoice 8076928 should be finishing up around mid-October. Thanks!
  10. Good morning, It looks like your invoice shipped out this morning! You should have received an email with the tracking information. If you did not, you can contact our customer service department and we can provide that to you. You can reach us at 877-764-5570 of by email at [email protected] Thank you!
  11. Good morning, If you can provide your invoice number, I can check the status for you and see about how much longer it might be. Please keep in mind, however, that all turnaround times are approximate and not guaranteed. Thanks,
  12. Good morning, thanks for your message. That is not something we would automatically notate on your label, however, if you would like to send the note back we can add it for an $8 variety fee. Thank you!
  13. Good morning, thanks for your message. Due to the high volume of mail we receive each day, it can take several days or longer for your package to be opened and entered. Your turnaround time does not start until the order has been entered into the system. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
  14. Good morning, thank you for your message. PMG is a grading company. We don't appraise currency we would just grade it based on the condition of the notes. We could not really advise you on whether or not an item is "worth" sending in. That is up to the individual to determine for themselves. However, if you are looking to have more information or an idea of value, you might want to take them to a currency dealer that could appraise them for you. You can find a listing of authorized PMG dealers, as well as information on how to submit to us for grading, on our website here: https://www.p
  15. Good morning, thank you for your message. PMG does not provide any information about the value of a note, so I could not tell you how that would effect the value. It would depend on the note, how rare it is, etc. Certainly, residue on a note will effect the grade and could potentially effect the amount someone would pay for it. But again, it would depend on the note in question and how common the note is. If you have any other questions, you can reach our customer service department at 877-764-5570 or by email at [email protected] Thank you!
  16. Good morning, thank you for your message. Yes, you can use a new page and just cross out the new invoice number and write "page 2" in the corner and then just attach it to your previous page. Our receiving department will know, in that case, that it is all part of one order. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
  17. Good morning, Thank you for your inquiry. In order to send notes to our company for grading you would either need to become a member of the Collector's Society or find a PMG authorized dealer near you to submit the notes for you. I have included a link to our website which goes over the steps needed to sign up for membership as well as the other options you have for submitting notes. http://www.pmgnotes.com/services/Submitting.aspx I have also included a link to the page which outlines the different grading tiers and the pricing for each as well as the current turn
  18. Good morning, thanks for your message. I forwarded your message over to our research department and they advised that the $20 bill you are referring to was printed on an SOI press and we do notate this on our label. You can find out more about the SOI Press $20 notes here: http://www.uspapermoney.info/general/soi.html Thank you!
  19. We would not obtain that information from the editors prior to receiving a submission. If you are sending notes in and they are not listed in the FR book you can just write "unlisted" and we will obtain that information when they get to our research department. Thank you.
  20. Good morning, thanks for your message. If we receive an order of notes that are not listed in the most recent edition of the Friedberg book, our research team usually will reach out to the editors of the book and they reply back to us with what the new numbers will be. Generally, they will follow the same sequence as numbers in the most recent edition. If you are interested in submitting notes for grading, you can find out more here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/services/Submitting.aspx If you have any questions, you can reach our customer service department at 877-764-5570. Thank you!
  21. Good morning, thanks for your message. If you do not agree with a grade and think it should be higher, you are welcome to send it back for a regrade. However, regular grading fees would apply and there is no guarantee the grade would change. You can certainly make any notations on your order that you would like to pass on to the graders when they review the notes. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
  22. Good morning, thanks for your message. We always use the most recent edition of Paper Money of the United States for reference. If a note is submitted that is not listed in the most recent edition then we will contact the editors of the Friedberg book and generally they are very quick to get back to us with what the number will be and we will go with that. This would then be the number that will appear in the next edition of the book. If the number cannot be determined, for example in certain types of error notes, then we would list it as FR-Unknown. But in most cases we are able to obtai
  23. Good morning. Yes, you can keep them in the plastic cases, however, if there are a lot of notes, it can cause a delay in processing as we will have to remove them all from those cases once they are received. We do not recommend using anything made with PVC to store your notes. Over time, PVC can cause damage to the note, giving it a translucent appearance. If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
  24. Good morning. Yes, if you are a paid member of the ANA, we do offer a free Associate level membership which would be good for as long as your ANA membership is active. There is a special application you would have to complete in order to obtain the free membership. You can find that on our website here: https://www.pmgnotes.com/ana-welcome/ The grading fees are determined by the declared value you put for your notes. Anything submitted to us for grading must have a declared value listed for insurance purposes. We do not advise you of the value, that is something you will have to li
  25. Good morning, thanks for your message. Unfortunately, we cannot advise you on which notes to send in for grading. Each person submits notes for their own reasons so it would entirely depend on what you want to do with them after they are graded. If you are just looking to sell them then you'd have to weigh the cost of signing up for membership and grading fees versus what you could get for them at auction. You might want to have them appraised by a currency dealer in that case. If you do wish to submit notes to us, you would either need to become a member of the Collector's Society
