Rec'd at PMG, the wait begins.

I just sent a good chunk of my NBNs to PMG to grade. The post office sure took it's time, but got my package there in 8 days instead of 4. PMG listed as received about a week after it arrived in Sarasota. Here's one of the notes awaiting scrutiny. I can't wait to add it to one of my series of 1882 collections here. Connellsville, PA The First NB (E)2329 Radar Treasury SN on a $10 1882 VB Fr. 576 Tillman | Morgan SN 9076/T493394 pp F/118. Love that SN especially on an early value back. 3. This note was recently returned from grading. I am growing fond of the new holders. They seem to have solved the problem of crooked notes and bulging ridges between the note and label compartments. Track and Price lists only 13 large notes and one Value Back. The VB listed is a $20 so this is new to then census. When I received the note from the seller, I could smell the strong tint of tobacco! If only this note could speak. I am sure the yellow color is a result of cohabiting with a smoker for a long time. However, in the holder, no one will ever know!!

  4. Being number 1 with 160 points is an achievement, no doubt about it. Don't worry about the wife, mine quit speaking to me years ago. She just grunts and snorts when she hands over the cardboard envelope that we both know what the contents are (once she has doused it in disinfectant). Funny how she checks the serial numbers of all her notes and gets excited when she spots a star note. She wasn't too thrilled when I created a note from her home state.

If there's a massive groundswell of demand (i.e. 5 likes on this post ought to represent a groundswell around here), I'll dig it out and post a pic.

You can type your Cert # into that slot, you will get a not valid for slot message, PMG will see that you tried to enter a Cert # review it and then if valid the'll add that Pick # to the slot along with your note. Usually only takes 24hrs for them to add your note and they'll send you a confirmation email when it's done. See Ali's response to me further up the string. LOL, I just did this again for one of my sets a few minutes ago.

  9. The Venezuelan hyperinflation and the Bolivar / Bolivar Fuerte (“Strong Bolivar”) / Boliver Soberano (“Sovereign Bolivar”) Series got my attention last year while I was heavy into building and shopping my Zimbabwe set. I think they are cool looking notes, I love the animals on the back, and I love the fact that some of them have turtles on them, in addition to being hyperinflation notes / series. I didn’t start collecting them though because I was neck-deep in Zimbabwe, I didn’t have the budget to do both and I’ve long since decided that I’m happier doing 1 thing well than doing 5 in a very ra

We have prepared and selected the best papers to send to your company, none of us are rookie for collection of banknote, so we already ensure those papers (except one) are good and meet your

This book gave me the general information I was looking for, what did some of the notes look like, how many different notes are there, etc.. This basic info gave me an idea of #1 did I like the notes (are they interesting and attractive to me), #2 how much was this going to cost (how many different issues and how rare), #3 how long will it take and will I be able to obtain most of the notes (availability). Rec'd at PMG, the wait begins.

The Economy submission went from Rec'd to awaiting grading to grades posted in a few days and the package is close to home, but not yet delivered. Maybe tomorrow. I'll likely be scanning this weekend and updating sets. The Bulk submission which arrived essentially the same day as the economy is still in the Received purgatory. S no update on the Atlanta Replacement. The Connellsville, PA note graded VF 20, so 5 points better than I thought. No EPQ. But it has RADAR SN on the labellebal ;0 Since sending my notes off for grading I picked up my 3rd $10 VB n The Commercial NB of Colum

Not sample holders, but the following two images were made at basically the same time using the same imaging method (cheap scanner) and the old gen holder image is just so much darker.

I can't make journals right now and I'm getting errors when I try to update my note descriptions, but I'm working on a major re-work / update to my New ZWD set to factor in current events (and make note of the Sep 2019 death of Mugabe). I have the following written up in my master Word file and i thought I'd share: The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe announced in mid-May 2020 that new $10 and $20 bank notes would be released at the end of May and the first week of June, respectively. 21. Ha! I wish I had duplicates! I wish I had the budget for a lot of duplicates! This set is so dang huge, if I was sinking a lot of money into duplicates and upgrades right now I'd be in trouble with the misses. One of the few things I'd count as an absolute duplicate is a P-98 that I wouldn't want to give up because my two P-98s are sequential serial numbers.

  24. With gold continuing its ascent towards $1,800 I had pumped the breaks on any new gold purchases about six months ago, and came to a dead stop in late March. Having just sent in, what will likely be my last submission of gold coins for awhile I was thinking I should take this opportunity to focus more on my banknote collection/collecting goals. Now appears to be an opportune time for me, with an influx of modern Ukrainian banknotes (my current focus) hitting the market at relatively low prices, or at least at what I would consider a low cost for already graded notes ($30-$40). The next were the new One Dollar notes 2017A series Fr #3005 for the Fort Worth location and Fr #3006 for the Washington DC location, this cover all the district location. At this time BEP is listing

  28. I'm not very familiar with Japanese notes but it does not appear to be rare ungraded, similar notes are available for $7 -$15 on ebay. The PMG price guide seems to be in the ballpark on this one. It does list 1944 as the common date for that base Pick # (56) but if you scroll down to your notes exact Pick # (56c) you will see that it has a notation on the Kiri leaf Watermark being a 1945 issue. It would seem that the $35 dollar evaluation of a note graded 60 is probably pretty close. A population of 1 in the PMG report is not necessarily an indication of rarity. Not sure who/wha

  29. Hello, I've been collecting banknotes for the last 5 years and I have more than 1000 notes certified by PMG. One of the main reasons I choose PMG graded notes among the other grading conpanies is beacause of the label. Your previous label was much more appealing, it looked more sophisticated and complete with the border around the edges. The new design is much more simplified and it looks like it has been rushed. Actually, it looks more like PCGS label, which I don't think it's a good thing. I also noticed on many auctions that PMG graded notes get more attention and prices quickly go up,

I tried to find out why the town was named Sulphur Springs but nothing much, less why it's not spelled the American way. The town was named Bright Star when it was along the Pony Express. Why they changed it is not clear from Wikipedia. It's not near the oil cities of east Texas where one would expect the pungent smell of sulfur and the biggest employers are the ISD and Walmart (no surprise). Just the type of note I love.

More fun at the FUN Show Orlando

Jan 14, 2020 JUST back from the FUN show in Orlando. Put in another set just finished(for grading by PMG). Hope to get it back quick, but I bet they're backed up 2 months minimum, so I'll just go on a coupla cruises and check the mail when I get back. serial #'s 00000082*, not quite as low as my 00000039*, but hoping for good grading. One of them has a terrible margin cut, almost no margin, so thats gonna be a 62 or three. As long as they all come back UNC, I'll be happy. Anyway, I'll upload pictures when I get them back. My table had an excellent location as it was in the front

    BAD BEHAVIOR on eBay

"This isn't unethical"? Really? The comment "Seal Redrawn" has been removed. Don't you think a buyer would like to know that? Of course it's unethical. When faced with that kind of behavior, I'm not going to "relax". Sad that you will.

That is correct apparently. The Brown Back is from Heritage Archives that also has Lawrence Sander's signature. As with the date back, someone sketched in a "v" indicating he was the Vice President. But he was VP on the brown back and date back. I don't have the Kelley reference but I am curious over what time span he was VP to be able to be on a BB and DB. Also are sigs. from his Presidency at Pittsburgh's FNB.

  38. After a cursory population study in T&P I found with the exception of CH#9, it is possible to put together a single digit charter collection. Most of the 1-9 charters are fairly common although Ch #6 (Syracuse) has only 23 large notes extant (I have been waiting to use that word "extant" for a while). However, there are no reported notes, neither large or small, for the FNB of Dayton (Ch#9). On another note, here is one picked up from Lyn Knight ungraded, after coming back from the grade man.

  39. Most of the notes in my Zimbabwe set come to me by way of a couple of different merchants that do a lot of business and have a lot of diverse inventory for the banknotes of that country and many others. One of those two merchants is BankNoteWorld (BNW). One of the interesting things about buying from BNW is the fact that they send a copy of this little book with every order that includes Zimbabwe notes. The book has gone through at least a couple of editions that I’ve seen. The older one is thinner and doesn’t include images of the notes under UV / black light. The new edition ha

    Dollars to Donuts

Very nice! Great story. I am not a big serial number fan but I like your tale. How in the world did someone accumulate 00001111 from such a variety of Feds? I posted a crossover some time ago. A CGA 64 $5 North Africa Emergency turned into a PMG 45. I never sent another in since. I still have a dozen or so CGA's kept as oddities. I too was a coin collector and the first time I held a large $10 Hillegas gold certificate in my hand, I was addicted. I never even knew notes had been so large in our past and was astounded that large notes like that could survive unfolded. I always believed part of

    Crooked Notes

Yes, it drives me crazy but there is nothing that can be done. They process so many notes that some come out with crooked labels and crooked notes. I am a real perfectionist so looking at crooked notes in a beautiful holder makes me grind my teeth, but I am assured that I am an outlier regarding this appearance issue.

  46. Morgan, I believe I spoke to Allison Emery a couple of months ago and there is no update in the works at this time (or the near future)... My understanding is the platform that each online manager (PMG and NGC) sit on is completely different, despite the fact they look similar online to us... For this reason they are not able to add the features of NGC to PMG as we would all like... In addition PMG is not as popular as NGC so there is no rush to take the time and money it would require to make the platforms the same... I agree it would really be nice to have the same pla

    New Note for Collection

I think vendors that sell ungraded notes are for the most part a scam. Not all, but a lot. Almost every ungraded note I bought and judged based on scans graded NET or had some other problem. Especially the high dollar ungraded notes. They have probably been looked at a thousand times by professionals that saw repairs or flaws and recommend they not be graded. Then they sell them to the purveyors of ungraded notes that then sell them on Ebay and get fantastic feedback because the note looks good and the buyer doesn't have them graded, but they don't notice a repaired tear. Then someone like me

  49. Good afternoon, Thank you for your post. Yes, we do grade Giori Test notes. They can go under the Economy Special tier or higher (Standard, Express or Walkthrough). If you are submitting other notes at the same time they can go on the same invoice as long as they are Standard or above. If you are submitting regular Economy or Bulk then these notes would need to go on a separate invoice and put under Economy Special. If you have any other questions, you can reach our customer service department at 941-309-1001 or by e-mail at [email protected] Thank you.
