Important Notes
All notes with serial numbers that are submitted multiple times (i.e. more than
once) for PMG grading, are represented only one time in the PMG population report.
Only the most current grade is represented.
PMG provides its population report as a resource to paper money hobbyists. The utilization
of this report as a tool for assessing the population and value of certified currency
in any character or grade is unreliable. Certain characteristics inherent in the
marketplace undermine the accuracy of this report.
- Inexpensive notes which are not generally submitted for certification may appear
scarce but are not.
- Currency certification services are used predominantly for higher grade notes.
- Certified notes can be removed from their holders without notice to the grading
service. Therefore, computer tallies utilized to provide population reports may
be misleading.
- Rarity is only one factor which must be weighed in determining the market value
of currency.
Paper Money Guaranty encourages all collectors to seek the counsel of qualified
numismatists familiar with the certified note marketplace before making any purchase
based on this report.
